The past year has seen a nationwide wave of attacks on workers and middle-class families, from Wisconsin to Ohio to New Hampshire. Now, these same attacks are coming to Oregon.
Petitions are currently being circulated that would limit the rights of public employees and charities to have a say in the political process.
The measures are part of a nationwide movement by large, corporate special interests and CEOs (like the Koch Brothers and their Americans For Prosperity group). In Oregon, these attacks on charities and public employees have been made by Bill Sizemore, who has brought similar measures to the ballot five times so far.
Now is the time to protect middle-class families, not tear them down by taking away their voice. It’s unfair and irresponsible to silence the voices of teachers, nurses, firefighters, and charities, while allowing large corporations and the rich to buy their own legislators.
Here's how you can help.
